First Look at my new project

So, here it is.

The first look on an early build of my new (game) project !

Notice: The walk animation is not implanted yet, it only shows 3 frames which were only made as a test.

Update (02/07/2010) : Development of silent samurai has stopped as of now.
The Reason for one is that I’m not much of an artist or animator and all the 2D Sprite stuff is a hell lot of work and to get the animations right you have to have at least some skill…

Well sorry folks but this game is canceled.
Which does not necessarily mean that I’m not going to do something else soon…
I’ll let you know if anything new comes up.

Like it says… :)

Though “soon” could range from a few days to a month.
Add me on twitter to be informed the minute something comes up or just check this site from time to time. Just don’t get your hopes up for something incredible so soon ^^
Also this will be the first time I’m trying myself on a real “game”.

I’ll be using the XNA-Framework this time as it’s much faster/easier to make a game than doing it the hard way with classic DX9.

Updated Style

Well, hi there!

Nothing new to show you guys as I haven’t worked on anything yet.
But I can tell you the Landscape demo is pretty much finished.
As it’s purpose was never to be a game but rather a showcase.
If I decide to try something new it’ll probably be indoor this time ;)

I decided to update this blog style a bit ^^ since…..well as much as I love Japan I thought that something else might fit the purpose of this blog a tad better.
So there you go.

sidenote: I personally think it looks awesome ;)

Brand new update

Well it was quite some time since the last update so here’s the brand new build.

New stuff added:
- A physical (moving) sun
- Rain Effect (almost same technique as Warcraft3)
- New Sky textures (new ones looking better now)
- Fixed the Mouse Camera a bit. (there was a huge bug in it)

As sorry as I am updates could take quite some time now, so don’t expect to have an update as soon as the early ones from now on :/

Little (or not so little) update today

Okay I’ve got a little update again.

Things I’ve implemented/updated:

  • Skydome is now focused on the Camera, which means that there’s no depth effect anymore (finally…)
  • Sunrise added (before it changed from night to noon)
  • Dynamic change of Skydome texture (sky texture shifts with the colors)
  • Increase/Decrease Daytime Speed functionality
  • Timing working perfectly now on every Machine. (means that the daytime changes at the same speed on every computer)

Back with a lot of new features

Hey guys! I’m back again with a brand new build of my D3D Engine.
Here’s what’s new:

- Dynamic Daytime Change (still improving)
- Tree Mesh
- Textured Skydome (still have to get the distance right)
- Key Input info menu
- Framerate Counter

So as you can see I haven’t been lazy the last week/s ;).

YouTube kinda fucked up my video quality but well here it is. (fullscreen might be a bit too blurry)

If I find a better site to upload the video I’ll give you an update. Until then youtube has to do the job.

I still have to get the normals on the terrain working. Because right now it’s pitch black.

I didn’t use the lighting technique for this video on the terrain so you can see the grass ;)

I’d love to have some feedback on my first video…

Terrain Creation v0.1

So here is the first version of my Terrain Creation.

For the time being it only reads *.RAW files for height information.

I will look into it to make *.bmp working, too. (This will be a little bit complicated but oh well….)

I’ve got some great news ladies and gentlemen.

  1. The Mesh/Model loading is implemented ! And I finally have something more (even if it’s still not much) to show you.
  2. I finally know why the Terrain didn’t work. It was a stupid little thing called a WorldMatrix which wasn’t initialized -.-

Now, here is what everyone’s been waiting for, a new screenshot ! (…yes I know it’s a tiger, it’s just a placeholder you know)
